About this programme

Aimed at students heading into engineering and IT, this Czech preparatory year recommends a school background in mathematics and physics. The load is heavier than most language courses: 35 lessons a week of 45 minutes, 1250 in total across 3 trimesters. Subject teaching begins in week 3, after two weeks of intensive Czech and an adaptation programme. Trimester-end tests track progress, and about 10 hours a week of homework, listening and speaking is expected.

The Poděbrady course is full-time and on campus, with classes between 8:30 and 15:30 on weekdays. Learners are taught in Czech and aim for B1 to B2. No prior Czech or English is required, and applicants can apply before finishing secondary school. A final exam in Czech gives a certificate recognised by more than 80 faculties. The age minimum is 17, and the course starts in September 2027.
